Rethinking the ending of Kuch Kuch Hota Hain

Few Bollywood movies have stayed in our hearts the way Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) has. Directed by Karan Johar, the film gave us love, friendship, heartbreak, and iconic dialogues like “Pyaar dosti hai.” But while the movie is loved by many, I always felt that the ending could have been different — more real, more fair, and more respectful to the relationships it showed. The Original Ending In the original story, Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan) and Anjali (Kajol) are best friends in college. Anjali secretly loves Rahul, but Rahul falls for Tina (Rani Mukerji) and marries her. After Tina’s death, she leaves behind letters for her daughter (also named Anjali), guiding her to reunite her father with his old friend Anjali. Years later, Anjali is engaged to Aman (Salman Khan), but through a series of events, she and Rahul meet again. Old feelings resurface, and despite Aman being the perfect partner, Anjali ends up leaving him at the altar. The film ends with Rahul and Anjali finally uniting, fulfill...

Success is inspiration, while failure is always a lesson.

D o we learn more from success or failure? A simple short answer would be- we learn MORE from failure. But that's not enough. It's actually a proper balance of what we get to learn from failures, and success. ____________________________________________________ Let me breakdown my perspective on learning from success , because we mostly overlook on how we learn so much while experiencing success, than just being happy.  Maybe it doesn't apply to everyone, maybe too much of success makes one egoistic, overconfident, and makes them take their fortune for granted. But for me, if I achieve something as and how I ever wanted or desired (which is termed as success), I see it as the beginning of something big, not like it's the peak of the mountain. I see each success as a beginning of something better to be achieved, it's never the end, it's a mark of things I've already learnt and the search of things that are still unknown to me. So, I then try to make sure to k...

From Darkness to Light

From Darkness to Light – Critical Appreciation The short film From Darkness to Light, written by Dinesh Mehra and directed by Prashant Joshi, beautifully conveys a deep message about gratitude and awareness. It focuses on something we often overlook – the everyday privilege of having electricity and the deeper respect for things we take for granted. The story revolves around a middle-class family, where the son is careless about switching off lights, fan, AC, etc. The father, without scolding, teaches him a valuable lesson by turning off the electricity in their home. At first, the son is confused and frustrated, but through this simple experience – especially a short interaction with the housemaid, Shantabai, who gets electricity for only a few hours a day – he begins to understand what it means to live without certain comforts. One of the most powerful things about this short film is how it uses light and darkness as symbols. Darkness here isn’t just about no electricity—it stan...

The Unfortunate Lucky Charm

Image
Sounds ironic indeed.  This heart locket is the unfortunate lucky charm, that I received as a gift. Let me break it down slowly, why a lucky charm would be unfortunate at the same time. Well, this locket doesn't even belong to me in the first place. But before that, let me show what's inside of it! It's a four leaf clover. Yeah, it's not real, it's paper. It's a cut out of a drawn leaf on paper, well-protected by transperant cello tape.  The one to whom this locket belongs to actually, once found a real four leaf clover. She kept it in this locket of hers, which welcomed a lot of good luck to her. All the positivity surrounded her, she was all happy. But then one day she lost the leaf, and along it went all her good luck too, apparently. At least, that's what she'd told me. Now, why's her locket, with me ? She gifted me, obviously . She made that whole four leaf clover to give me, maybe with hopes that it'd bring me good luck...? Why would sh...
