Success is inspiration, while failure is always a lesson.

Do we learn more from success or failure?

A simple short answer would be- we learn MORE from failure.

But that's not enough. It's actually a proper balance of what we get to learn from failures, and success.

Let me breakdown my perspective on learning from success, because we mostly overlook on how we learn so much while experiencing success, than just being happy.

Maybe it doesn't apply to everyone, maybe too much of success makes one egoistic, overconfident, and makes them take their fortune for granted.

But for me, if I achieve something as and how I ever wanted or desired (which is termed as success), I see it as the beginning of something big, not like it's the peak of the mountain.

I see each success as a beginning of something better to be achieved, it's never the end, it's a mark of things I've already learnt and the search of things that are still unknown to me.

So, I then try to make sure to keep up my consistency in my achievements, rise higher and higher as I tell myself-

"Saparja, you've made it so far, it wasn't easy. So, you can make it even

higher, no matter how difficult it might seem"

It gives me self confidence and I get to learn that if I believe in myself, I really can do anything, given it's ethically right.

Basically, if you become overconfident or greedy or ungrateful or start taking things for grated, downfall is bound to get you.

But if you are experiencing continuous success, it means you've learnt to regulate your pride within yourself in a healthy amount. So, that's what you get to learn from facing success.

However, success is always an inspiration. Be it your friend or be it any person you know, inspire you with their tiniest to biggest achievements. Or be it your past or present self, who managed to be who you are today and gets you what you need in your life. Isn't it a success, for how you are as a person today? Isn't it your success? Yes. But do you stop growing up? No, likewise, success doesn't stop, it rises higher with you.

Now, talking about failure-

Firstly, failure doesn't really mean a loss of the entire idea, neither just failing in a test nor not winning in a competition.

Every small to big mistake can be counted as a failure.

In my personal opinion, the true essence of success can never be felt without failures.

Why so?

Let me ask you.

How often do you feel grateful for the fact that you can see everything around you through your eyes?

How often do you feel grateful for the fact that you can talk your heart and mind out without any physical problems?

How often do you feel grateful for the fact that you can write/type/cook/carry anything, using your hands?

Not really. Even I don't often think about it, so, don't lie, even you don't think about it much even though you might be genuinely grateful at times regarding these.

You know why???

We never fail at it, and so, we take it for granted. Ask the ones who even struggle with it, they would know the value of being able to do what we've been doing since birth without fail. Because, these are the things we achieved in life even before we knew anything about life, failure or success itself, and these successes became a consistent and normal part of our lives.

In simple words, we take these successes for granted.

We cannot understand the value of achieving something without our own process of learning, which happens to be a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs together. Achievement is made due to the absence of something, and to make it, we gotta put efforts.

The pure joy and satisfaction of success, only comes after you know what a failure feels like. No person without a failure (even their tiniest mistakes as well) would EVER understand how mistakes happen and how to react/take accountability when they go wrong at times, and what it feels like to be finally successful at something that they might have failed at, which ultimately leads to gratitude.

Moreover, a person is not just motivated through success but also when they fail to do something right.

When you make mistakes, you think about what can go wrong,  it reminds you to know, observe better, to be more insightful and to also use intuition rather than just going blindly towards something. It makes you really conscious, cautious, makes you grow better, and stronger.

If you happen to commit a huge mistake, in fact- let's say the worst, losing everything in your plan and forced to start from zero, it's okay.

"Life still goes on for the living" is a quote I remember from the K-Drama "When Life Gives You Tangerines"

And if you are able to stand up again, after being at your lowest, trust me throughout the time, during the process, you would learn so much that you would feel grateful for even the failure that once made you feel so low or maybe even depressed. Failure hits you bad, but what stays after failure is always a surprising lesson, the better for you, needed growth, and deserved success.

Therefore, failure leads to success, and it teaches you more than success does in life. But both are equally important. Without failures, success would be taken for granted and without success, a person cannot stay motivated for long.
